Mind of David ©1982 Dolores Marusarz

This painting of David is framed in silver-toned wood. It is painted in oils and measures 18 X 24". It is being shown by the kind permission of its owner, D. Hanley of Albuquerque, NM.

When David was a youngster he dreamed of going into outer space. Now he writes computer programs and maybe some day he'll send someone else to the stars.

Ah, my boy David. He loved outer space. He talked about it every day. His first stellar question of depth came when he was three and had been listening to the news. An article about solar power was broadcast and it prompted a serious question from David. "Mommy," he queried, "how does the sun make heat?" "Let's go find a book about that, David," I responded. His love of books was already established, so frequent trips to the library then helped him to find answers to all the questions I could not answer. Most of those questions were space related. I painted this photo of him to reflect the space his mind seemed to be occupying much of the time at that age. He is now a man and does computer programming, but who knows--maybe space will play a part in that someday.
